New York New York

Ask me if I’m an idiot?

The answer is yes, the biggest idiot there is. Why? I went to one of the most amazing cities in the world and came back with hardly any photographic evidence of me there! On any holiday, even if I’m just there for three days or a week, I will return with hundreds of pictures. I always say, they are my memories on paper. But when I entered a city where one would take thousands of pictures, I barely took fifty.

Now ask me if I regret this?

The answer… No. I went to New York, nearly four years ago, when I was a teeny 18 years old. At the time obviously I thought I was extremely grown up as it was my first holiday with no parents. Just my friend and I, taking on this infamous concrete jungle. Literally, as soon as we landed we got sucked up in the charm of the city. Seeing that skyline slowly reveal itself on the horizon was like being in my very own Woody Allen movie. Everywhere we walked we were like excited children who could not believe their luck. We were in New York, NEW YORK!

We were staying minutes away from Times Square, meaning most locations were within a walking distance. But I really cannot put into words how amazing this trip was. Both of us simply had no care in the world. We were there for 10 days, and everyday was just as chilled and mesmerizing as the next.

You know how some adults say, just get off your phone or camera and live. Well, I did precisely that. I didn’t worry about documenting every second, every moment, I just let the city captivate me and turn me into a wide eyed puppy. From walking up and down 5th avenue, to seeing broadway shows. Taking the subway, to getting very lost on the subway. Shopping in Bloomingdales, to taking extremely long breaks in Bryant Park. We did the whole New York experience and we fell in love.

Here are those very few shots.

Thanks for reading everybody! Let me know about your future travels and if you’ve been to New York.

  1. Great imagery anyhow.. I am a huge believer in the take the experience in instead of just shooting it on a camera… Your eyes and memories are the best experience. However it is always nice to have a few shots, here and there. New York is one of those cities where you can come back with thousands of shots of a number of buildings, when really one or two will do. Experience more right! A Wandering Memory
